It has numbers in it= probably not a word in a traditional sense. Then again, I use “=” in sentences. If this is in fact a word, the arbeiters of our language appear to be signaling a shift in what will be considered for wordhood.

Aww, no readers of Language Log on Buzzfeed? The one million word thing has been exposed as an obvious hoax/publicity stunt. Here's just one of their many posts describing why.

web 2.0 absolutely does mean something. sure, it's more collective and cultural, based on buzz and pop culture rather than on the traditions of the english language, but it still has a concrete meaning. much like the term “millenials” or the theory of the “digital divide”, these things are pretty basic terms cooked up by the media as a form of dumbening down. while i can agree that it shouldn't be classified as a word because it is a mixture of characters, you cannot say that it is a meaningless term - that is simply false.

OMG! How did you know that I am a frigging HUUUUGE fan of the word “grundle”? Thanks for making my day, Jack! My goal now is to use “grundle” in conversation at least once per hour until I go to sleep tonight. “Ugh. Something smells like an old moldy Egg McMuffin. Russ, you bloody twit, did you forget to wash your grundle again?” “If it weren't for botox, Joan Rivers' face would probably look just like my grundle.” I figure that's two halfway decent backups in case I find myself nearing the end of an hour without having found a perfect opportunity. This is gonna be awesome! Also, I totally agree about “Web 2.0”.
