PETA Vs. Pokemon
PETA has finally weighed in on the brutal Pokemon fighting rings run by merciless trainers like the notorious Ash Ketchum. Naturally, there’s a parody game, which, according to PETA’s (correctly accented) press release, “encourages kids to fight for Pokémon rights.” Play the game below, and please do be sure to say something po-faced in the comments.

‘Games like Pokémon send kids the wrong message that exploiting and abusing
those who are defenseless is acceptable when it is not,’ says PETA Director of
Marketing Innovations Joel Bartlett. ‘But with Pokémon Black and Blue, children
can experience the great feeling that comes with saving others from harm.’

EmHen522 6 months agoReally, PETA? Really? This is where all of the donation money goes to? Let me explain something to you: Pokemon is one of Nintendo top-selling and most successful franchises and has delighted children for over 15 years. It does NOT teach kids about animal abuse or how to make them fight for money or any of that. If anything, it’s teaches them the total opposite: how to take care of, raise, and become best friends and loyal partners with your Pokemon. Obviously, PETA has never watched even one HALF of an episode of the anime, nor have they ever played one of the games. Also, you think something like a children’s video game series is pure evil, but exploiting women and making them appear naked (albeit heavily airbrushed) on your internationally-run ads is totally acceptable. When hes all like ” Why do you want to imprison me in a tiny pokeball?” ummm pikhus never even in a pokeball! And ash is all ” When havI ever showed any love for you?” only in like EVERYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH POKEMON EVAR!Seriously people, one of the most loved franchises ever,at least make your characters accurate…..

Mock Turtle 8 months agoOn the one hand, I’m very impressed by Peta’s obviously thorough knowledge of Pokémon. On the other hand, this is total bullshit. Pretty much all Pokémon media has made it clear that Pokémon is all about the bond of friendship between a trainer and his/her Pokémon. Plus, Pokémon aren’t even real, so even if this is a thinly-veiled attempt to criticize carnivores and furriers and whatnot, it doesn’t make sense. Oh, and Nintendo and The Pokémon Company aren’t going to stand for this fuckery. Fair use covers satire, but this is a whole other level that not even Peta’s Super Mario Bros. parody came anywhere near. Enjoy getting sued, fuckwads. I hope they take every cent you’ve got, both because A) you’re terrible anyway, and B) you fucked with Pikachu. And just for the record, I’m a devout vegetarian. And gamer.

I am an avid Pokemon player. I have played all the games and I have something to ask you. Have YOU yourself played the game? Do YOU yourself know the story line of the games? No, I do not think that you have played the games, and I do not believe that you know the storyline behind Pokemon games. You have to nurture your Pokemon. You heal them, you feed them. You get items for creating a bond between you and your Pokemon.
Throughout the entire game you are gaining Gym Badges to SAVE THE POKEMON.
Rethink what you say. I have been playing Pokemon for years. I grew up with Pokemon. Not only have the games impacted my life, so has the anime. The anime show has had an extremely big impact on the Pokemon culture. In EVERY SINGLE EPISODE there are morals to be taught. Sure, Ash is on a quest to catch them all, but he is out there to become THE GREATEST TRAINER. He nurtures his Pokemon. Look at Pikachu, or Charizard, all of his Pokemon are treated kindly. Ash saves Pokemon. Pokemon: The First Movie, Ash teaches not only every other Pokemon to love and value others, he teaches Mewtwo, himself, who is a genetically built Pokemon, to accept and love all the Pokemon that he has tried to fight against.
Ash has saved Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres. Ash saves the Pokemon and he teaches young children to treat your pets as friends. Is that not what you yourselves have been trying to drill into children from a young age? Team Rocket try to exploit Pokemon. EVERY SINGLE EPISODE THEY ARE UNSUCCESSFUL. What exactly, does Pokemon do that is so horrible?
The games teach people to create bonds with their Pokemon. The games teach people that if you exploit things, you will be punished. There is not ONE THING in Pokemon that sends across a bad message. Pokemon is in fact something that helps children understand how to treat a pet correctly. Please take this into consideration before you slander something that means so much too so many people. Pokemon is something that many people are brought up with and you need to reconsider where you stand. You will not win this fight. -

Zachery Douglas Green 8 months agoUhh… no one’s bothered by the fact Ash befriended Giratina, opposed Arceus and killed like 20 people when he sank J’s crew forever into a lake in the 4th generation? I’m slightly creeped out by the fact they also said they eat Pokémon in both the 4th gen games and the 4th generation. The battling is all fun and games but Ash has also been killed like 15 times now and keeps godmodding himself back to life. Not that any one of these is worth attacking Pokemon for, it’s just that I don’t think they belong in a kid’s show. I’m more worried about the message to children that it’s okay to kill people as long as they’re bad guys and that if you’re a good guy you’ll just come back to life every time you die. I want to see a game that addresses THESE issues!
