I got in trouble by my parents cuz I was in a chat room and some people were “cybering” even though I wasn’t participating. What ever happened to cyber sex anyway? I had an Angelfire website and the address was like 200 characters long. My sister used to go on the Depeche Mode website to chat. Ahh, those were the days.

My first internet experience was back in ‘92 or ‘93 with a local bulletin board service…the on Prodigy, GEnie, and the EA game service. It was all so basic back then. I will never forget when Prodigy added pictures to their service…Whoa!

First email I ever sent was through Juno in 1996. Then I grew up in 1997 at 11 years old and went on AOL. My first sn was NYshorty920. So many stories since then.

Ahh… 199…3 (?)… one of the first commercial ISP:s in sweden, can’t recall their name, they sent us messages as we were trying to connect; “C’mon guys, we’re still trying iron out a few bugs here, wait a minute..”. DOS command line, we felt very elite (this was before that was spelt with numbers…). We had a very active local BBS scene here at the time, but everyone migrated to the web after that. I remember a bug in the phone company systems at that time, whispered in the high school cafeteria and online, giving us free dial up… or so we thought… someone spilled the beans, and it was fixed. I miss those days… Happy 40th birthday, internet!

My first experience was someone passing me a floppy disk with Netscape 1.1 on it. For months, I surfed to websites and just killed alot of time. Fifteen years later I’m here on BuzzFeed, and… still doing the same goddamn thing. Thanks Internet!

I got on Compuserve in ‘87 or ‘88. My husband and I were leery of the high hourly rates, so we didn’t stay on for more than a few minutes at a time. Then we got the long distance charges, which were hundreds of dollars in a month, on top of the service fees! After we gave up, I didn’t go back online for several years.

I remember having a time limit for internet usage, because the AOL CD we got had only like, 60 hours a month of internet access. I would use that time to talk with girls in chat rooms. You know that was a long time ago if I was hitting on girls.
