This was a set-up. He planted the reporter who asked the question. He does this shtick all the the time to fool people into thinking he’s some sort of rebellious, maverick who’s not afraid to speak his mind or whatever. He’s a self promoting, arrogant facist. Period.

Were his detractors concerned that he was Arab? If that’s the case then they are indeed racists. Are they concerned that he’s Muslim? If that’s the case then they are certainly wrong and bigoted, but they are certainly not racists, perhaps anti-theists (if you’re looking for a neat designation of their bigotry). If you honestly believe that Islam is a race (and not a belief system) then you are clearly as ignorant as any bigot.
