Nether 5 months agoOut of all my years in retail, I still cannot and hopefully never will “adapt” to customers acting rude/ignorant. I applaud this sign!

janice! 5 months agoIt’s from a Border’s, I think the one near MSG, in NYC after they closed. It’s bitchy but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. People get stupid when they shop.

evilito 5 months agoIf the store is indeed closing, then ha ha, I get it, good for them and all that. Otherwise, yeah, it’s bitchy. I worked customer service for years (in another industry), and am perfectly familiar with stupid customers and stupid questions…but it comes with the territory, and you adapt.

intervamp 5 months agoI currently work at a used bookstore (still hanging on) and all of those are true. Luckily for me, my manager is super cheap and we don’t do straight up returns. My absolute favourite was just the other day when a guy walked into the store and said, “I was here 15 years ago and bought a book on back pain, do you have another copy?” Totally expected me to know everything about this book cause he bought it at this store 15 years ago and was very disappointed when, no, we didn’t have a copy. But, Oprah is awesome. Just put those books with that sticker on the same shelf and boom, people will buy em. And trust me, A LOT of Oprah books are given away to used book stores.

leticiamb 5 months agoAs a former bookstore manager and general employee, every single one of those is entirely accurate. It may sound bitchy but all of those things happened on a daily basis at every book store I worked in. It gets old after awhile. I’m sure this sign was posted at a store closing and the employees finally got to have their say. I applaud them.
