I think I want to go back to 1987.
I think I want to go back to 1987.
If he’d been black, he’d already be on death row. This is Texas after all.
thanks for that meaningful contribution.
“You are use to free coffee during the NBA playoffs” Wow, Buzzfeed. That’s borderline illiteracy. Also you forgot, #30 - you’re super fat.
From the article: “To maintain all 180 channels under an “a la carte” system, consumers would have to increase their annual spending on TV to $1,260, an increase of 75% above the $720 per year they currently spend.” Television providers are going to have to unbundle eventually, though. Even the study itself says that there’s a downward trend in both television watching, and in paying for cable. The current model becomes unsustainable in the long run, and TV providers will have to begin bundling. And at first things are going to be more expensive, yes. If you’re disrupting an industry’s business model, the result often is higher prices. And you will buy less channels because of it. And some channels will go away because nobody wants to pay to watch them, and that’ll be that. Is this a bad thing? I don’t think so, though I get the sense that the article is written from the viewpoint that it’s desirable to keep the same number of channels, or even increase them. Maybe the market shows that the opposite is true.
it’s the crazy, believe me.
I’d love to see how some of our dumbshit homegrown American kids do.
I love the 23 year old commenters posting about how this list sucks. Um, how would you know? You haven’t experienced even half the years listed.
The Pride image is priceless. If he’s not re-elected, I bet he has a reality show on American television within six months of the end of his term.
they all kinda look the same, no?
Obvioulsy it’s fake. But man, the dude is a douche.
you mean the white congressman got a light sentence? Never would have expected that….
Im a big fan of that show, and of Canadian comedy in general. Grew up watching The Kids in The Hall on HBO (because I’m an old).
thank you, Captain Obvious.
Oh gawd, I certainly hope Ted Cruz doesnt accidentally shoot himself with that shotgun. Because that would be horrible, obviously.
Here’s my predictions: (all of these obviously depend on the group draws, but what the hell) - USA to the quarterfinals (hey, it happened before! in 2002). - Mexico makes it to the WC, but continues its woeful performance. Doesn’t advance. - Spain to the semis. - Brazil to the semis. - Argentina and Germany once again play for the cup. Argentina comes out on top, as Europeans do not win cups in the western hemisphere (at least they haven’t for a long while).
so killing an unarmed black teenager doesn’t get you arrested in Florida unless the media makes a national shitstorm about it. But pulling a gun on a white woman sure does. Way to go FL.
Canadians: They’re just like us!
Yes, the Philipines thanks you! moron.
Curious, what is an “area with too many lions,” exactly? Funny. These animals are in their natural habitat, and are certainly not in need of culling (another bogus concept). In fact, they are classified as a “vulnerable species,” so how exactly did you arrive at the conclusion that there were too many lions in the area? In the end, this is a woman who kills living things for sport. Not for sustenance, not for food. Look at her trophy photos. It’s sadistic and sick. Hopefully karma will kick in someday.
so this Wafer guy is the next conservative hero, right? Just like they lined up to defend scumbag George Zimmerman’s honor.
So Simpsons episodes from the 90’s will be available again? That’s awesome - that’s by far the best era (I don’t think the show even comes close to that level of excellence these days). Generally, the syndicated TV stuff only goes back 5 years or so.
“Turns out the whole ‘Please stand on the right’ thing isn’t so big in NY.” I’m surprised you encountered this. The left is for walking up the escalator, the right for standing. Pretty standard in every subway station with an escalator, as far as my experience goes.
How can you not love this man?
Awesome, let me give another site my personal information.
get off it, grandpa.
I still find it very curious that the rape charge emerged only after Assange divulged classified US information through Wikileaks, prompting the rage of the US government. It brings to mind the case of Scott Ritter. Ritter was a former member of the armed forces and a UN weapons inspector who was a fairly visible presence in Iraq in the wake of the first Gulf War in the 1990’s. He was constantly on TV, a tough-as-nails weapons inspector, committed to making sure there were no traces of WMD’s in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Certainly no one’s idea of a dove or a leftie. When Bush Jr pushed the case for war in Iraq in 2002-2003, Ritter became among the loudest of skeptics, and never shut up about the fact that what the administration was saying did not compute. As was par for the course for the Bush White House, they immediately began to demonize the guy, painting him as a peacenik hippie….and then suddenly, charges of child pornography popped up, and just like that, Ritter was silenced. When I saw the fortuitous timing of Assange’s rape charges, Scott Ritter’s story immediately came to mind. Given all the nefarious, immoral shit the US government undertakes, such shenanigans would definitely not be out of place.
jesus, would it have killed them to properly light the set?
I suppose we’re witnessing that America can’t do big things anymore. No matter who is in charge. No matter the party making the decisions. Bush showed that America cannot do big foreign war adventures any longer without completely fucking everything up, and Obama is currently busy thoroughly fucking up a huge domestic reform with Obamacare. Both parties, huge failures. At the federal level, we have a government of incompetents.
Barack Obama will have to spend the rest of his presidency laser-focused on ensuring that the ACA is successful. As of now, I think it could go either way. The rollout was handled atrociously. While the vast majority of people - who get their health insurance through their job or through Medicare - won’t see a difference, there are still millions for whom this will be, at best, a huge hassle. And at worst, it will cause them their insurance. It’s a minority of the public, but it’s still millions of people. And Barack Obama repeatedly said that if you liked your plan, under the ACA, you’d be able to keep it. Not so. And if, because of the disastrous rollout, there end up being far too few people enrolled in the exchanges, the law could (though it wouldn’t be a certainty) could end up failing because of lack of demand. So, if Barack Obama wants his presidency to be seen as anything other than a failure, he will have to ensure that the ACA - his signature policy, and a big change in American life - is successful. I supported the ACA and Barack Obama, and think that, on balance, he has done an okay, though far from great or exceptional, done as president under very trying circumstances. But I am beyond disappointed at the total mismanagement of a program on which he essentially staked his presidency. It’s amateur. He has no choice other than to make this his number one priority for the next three years.
Yea, I get that it can be seen as embarrassing. It’s certainly half-assed. Still, I don’t see the fuss.
Meh. That may or may not be the case, I dunno. Fact remains that she built the Deadline brand and already had a large readership before Penske. Given the resources the new corporate parent put into Deadline, it’s no surprise it grew after Penske. I still think she’ll take a substantial chunk of readers with her.
I don’t really see what’s so strange about Paul quoting Gattaca. I think lifting the stuff from Wikipedia wasn’t very artful, but not exactly a big deal. People reference films and books all the time to make a point - in newspaper articles, in speeches, etc. Using our common culture to argue one’s case. Nothing wrong with that. If anything, if I were one of the producers of Gattaca, I’d be very proud that my movie had lived on to the point that it was being used as a metaphor to argue a cause.
girls can’t surf
Of course Penske doesn’t want to let her go. She’ll take half (at least) of Deadline’s readership with her, and he knows it.
Come on, that nun’s a dude.
What exactly is rape culture? I’m not trying to be snarky - the term comes up a lot
No, you yokel. The majority of Americans rightly view the Tea Party as destructive lunatics - something which they seem too eager to confirm at every opportunity. It’s funny that when you listed the Tea Party’s virtues, you didn’t list the Constitution. The Tea Party has shown such contempt for the Constitution, it’s almost laughable that they would claim to have the interests of their country in mind.
Three things I loved: - Montana’s favorite porn is Wife. Such upstanding citizens! - Parody porn, Idaho? Are you serious? - I loved that Oklahoma’s favorite is Anal, and the state is shaped like a probing finger.
Jesuschrist, these people are really ruining San Francisco. I get the whole jobs, economic development, etc thing, but SF has always been a treasure of a city (even with its warts), and these tech transplants are turning it into a bland playground - only for those who can afford it, of course. It’s sad that perhaps the two most iconic cities in the USA - New York and San Francisco - are so gilded that they’re being destroyed.
