Fun fact: On top of flying, carrying absurdly heavy objects, and looking fetching in tights, Superman can sing too. Yup, that's what I said. A singing Superman exists in the form of David Wilson, when he starred as Supes in the TV version of It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman.

This version was hot, because, well, tights and great hair. And, as an added bonus, Wilson's version is insanely campy fun.

I know we just went over Wilson's 1975 TV version of It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman, but you're probably wondering: What about Bob?! Well, there was a 1966 Broadway version that the TV special was based on, which starred Bob. As you may be able to tell from that lovely photo, it was a little bit campy, a lot of fun, and all pretty fantastic.

Sidenote: Is it just me or is Bob REALLY filling out those tights?

Look, don't act like you've never had a crush on a Disney character before. (Prince Eric, anyone? No? Just me? OK.) Either way, Superman in cartoon form is still swoon worthy.

Oh, and if you're curious as to the voice behind the superpowers: that's Tim Daly, who voiced the Man of Steel in Superman: The Animated Series from 1996-2000, 2002, 2006, and again from 2009-2012.

Even in black-and-white, Kirk Alyn is a stone cold fox. He's also the ORIGINAL Kal-El of the big screen. Kirk starred in a Superman serial in 1948, making him the first live-action Superman that people ever saw. He also reprised the role in 1950, when he appeared in Atom Man vs. Superman. Ya gotta give this guy cred for being the first, right?

This was a short-lived stint, but it did leave a lasting impression. He starred as Superman for the first season of Superboy in 1988, then lost the role after a very public DUI arrest, and salary requests... Still a babe, though.

Gerard took over John Haymes Newton's role of Superman in the second season of Superboy. He continued in the role through the end of the fourth season. All I gotta say is, keep taking that tired Clark shirt off, boo.

Oh, Brandon Routh, you tall glass of dreamboat. Let's be honest: this man is a brick house of hotness, and he's got Disney prince hair. But his 2006 Superman Returns portrayal was just... a little on the boring side. There's no nice way to say that. It wasn't entirely Routh's fault though, which is why we'll cut him, and that chin dimple, some slack.

5. George Reeves

Superman would be nothing without that delicious square jaw, and Reeves definitely nailed it when he starred in the role on the Adventures of Superman TV series from 1951-1958. As Superman, Reeves was tough, confident, and just plain likable. Plus, look at that chest — The Metropolis Marvel.

Being a teen heartthrob isn't easy, but Tom Welling did it for 10 years on the CW show Smallville, which ended in 2011. Not only did we get a close glimpse into his life BEFORE Metropolis, but watching him go through the awkwardness of high school — dances, dating, dealing with your parents — made him even more likable.

Plus, the dude looks hot in flannel. 'Nuff said.

Full disclosure: I had an epic crush on Dean Cain when Lois & Clark premiered in 1993. I was 8 years old, and wrote him a fan letter. He wrote me back. The card was a photo of him, in his Superman gear, with the message, "Super wishes, Love, Dean." My heart grew three sizes that day.

Aside from my lady boner for Dean, his portrayal was Supes sexy. (See what I did there?) And his relationship with Teri Hatcher was probably the most involved we've ever gotten into Superman's adult love life. Also, his friendship with Jimmy was pretty hilarious.

1. Christopher Reeve

It's not easy to make an alien with unlimited strength and dramatic good looks relatable, but Reeve managed to do just that. Not only does he LOOK like Superman — bare chest and all — but he was brilliant in the role. He had presence, and a great sense of comedic timing and irony in Superman: The Movie, and Superman II, III and IV. Admittedly, the names of those films lack originality, but Reeve did not.
