Caiqueattack 9 months agoI’d say the owl is enjoying it, because if you know anything about birds, they get together and “preen” eachother. Birds in general can’t get to the back of their heads and must rely on others to help remove the sheath on new feathers. So the owl probably thought of it as part of a preening session.

I would’ve loved to hear the woman’s explanation. When you ‘pet’ an owls head it closes its eyes not because it feels good and is relaxing, but because it’s a reflex. Baby owls close their eyes when their parents feed them so they don’t poke their eyes. So basically this owl is scared someone’s gonna hurt its eyes. I don’t know about the noises it makes, because I don’t know all that much about birds, so I won’t claim that doing what you see in the video is wrong, but I’ll sure as hell go ahead and call it VERY questionable.
