One Direction Gave An Honest Interview About Zayn Malik Quitting

And that Twitter spat was addressed.

As you're probably aware, Zayn Malik quit One Direction back in March, releasing a statement in which he said he wanted to be a "normal 22 year old".

At the time, the remaining four members of One Direction released a statement in which they thanked Zayn for his contribution and said they respected his decision.

But now the band have given their first – and very honest – interview since Zayn quit.

Speaking to James Corden on The Late Late Show, Liam Payne revealed that they had felt angry and disappointed when Zayn told them he was leaving.

Liam said:

At first we were a little bit angry, obviously. We were surprised, but I think we all knew the vibe Zayn was feeling. You could sort of tell. From the outside, people could tell as well. There were certain parts of the job that Zayn loved, and certain parts he didn't. If you don't like the job, you have to follow your heart sometimes and go where you need to go and there is no arguing with that. Like I say, we were angry at first but then it was just a bit more disappointed. But we wish him the best of luck with whatever he gets up to, and there is no hard feelings. It is just going to carry on as normal.

The matter of Zayn and Louis Tomlinson's recent Twitter feud was addressed as well, with Louis revealing he struggles to bite his tongue on social media.

He said:

There has been a bit of back and forth, we are on good terms with him. I've never been very good at biting my tongue. Maybe I get it off my mum. It's just one of those things. Twitter is great for connecting with the fans, but if you also feel like saying something you probably shouldn't, it is good for that, or bad in this case.

When asked if Zayn and Louis had spoken since, he said that things had been resolved.

Louis said: "Yes, it's all resolved. All good in the hood, James. No qualms."

They also reassured fans that One Direction will not be disbanding any time soon.

Niall said:

The four of us love every part of it. Things have been great on the tour and the fans have been great to us, they deserve it, they have been fantastic to us. The shows have been great and we are in the studio at the minute and we are looking forward to bringing out a new record, and going on more tours. We are really enjoying it.

Phew.
