Water Main Break Floods NYC’s Flatiron District
UPDATE: MTA has released video footage of the water main break. A massive, very photogenic headache for New York commuters. Updates will be posted as they occur.
1. UPDATE: MTA has released a video of the water main break.
2. A water main break at East 23rd & Broadway has caused flooding in New York City’s Flatiron District.
6. The 23rd Street Subway Station has been evacuated. MTA says N/Q service is suspended between De Kalb and 57th and 7th or R service between Queens Plaza and Whitehall

Yesterday there was nothing on the MTA website at 10:30 AM, so I got on my 1 train and took it to Time Square to transfer to the N/R to Prince St. I get to Times Square and they start announcing a “water pipe break” and there are no Broadway line trains running. Okay, I get to work by an alternate route. But because I’m 30 blocks south of the break I had no idea how bad it was. Dude…that’s a frakking FLOOD. Okay, now I get why I had to transfer four times to get to work, lol.
