Meet The Royal Baby’s Future BFFs

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child will join an elite playgroup of future kings, queens, and emperors.

1. Princess Estelle of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland

Future Queen of Sweden
Age: 1 year old.
Why they’ll be friends: Like the royal baby, Estelle is the child of a royal and a commoner — her father Prince Daniel was a personal trainer and gym owner before he married her mother, Crown Princess Victoria.

2. Prince Christian of Denmark

Future King of Denmark
Age: 7 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: The royal baby will probably be a huge fan of Usain Bolt, just like Prince William and Prince Harry, so he or she will probably get along very well with the sports-loving Prince Christian.

3. Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange

Future Queen of the Netherlands
Age: 9 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Princess Amalia became the heiress to the Dutch throne when her grandmother abdicated in April, forcing her into the spotlight at a very young age. She’ll be able to give the royal baby plenty of advice about dealing with the pressures of royalty and 24/7 media attention.

4. Prince Abdul Muntaqim of Brunei

Future Sultan of Brunei
Age: 6 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Prince Abdul is a huge football (soccer) fan, attending matches and even playing in a children’s league. Since Prince William is a football fan and Kate Middleton played the sport as a child, it’s very likely that the royal baby and Prince Abdul will be able to bond over their shared love of the game.

5. Infanta Leonor of Spain

Future Queen of Spain
Age: 7 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Infanta Leonor is considered to be one of the most fashionable royal children in Europe, and with Kate Middleton for his or her mother, there’s no way that the royal baby will be anything but impeccably dressed. They’ll be able to relate to one another over their excellent style.

6. Crown Prince Moulay Hassan of Morocco

Future King of Morocco
Age: 10 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Like the royal baby, Prince Moulay Hassan will one day be the religious leader of his country as well as its monarch.

7. Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway

Future Queen of Norway
Age: 9 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Princess Ingrid is the first member of the Norwegian Royal Family to attend a local school (instead of a school in a different city). Prince William and Kate Middleton will most likely send their child to a regular school as well, to ensure that their child will have as normal a life as possible.

8. Prince Hisahito of Akishino

Future Emperor of Japan
Age: 6 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Prince Hisahito’s birth in 2006 was one of the most-anticipated royal births of all time, since he was the first male child born into the Imperial House of Japan in 40 years. Since he’s been the focus of frenzied media attention from the moment he was born, he’ll be able to give valuable advice to the royal baby.

9. Princess Elisabeth of Belgium

HANDOUT / December 2012 / Reuters

Future Queen of the Belgians
Age: 11 years old.
Why they’ll be friends: Just like the U.K., Belgium changed its laws of succession before Princess Elisabeth was born to ensure that the firstborn child would inherit the throne regardless of their sex. Especially if the royal baby’s a girl, they’ll be able to bond over this new precedent their countries have set.
