21 Struggles Of People Who Used To Be Shy

There are side effects of being shy that still haunt those of us that ~came into our own.~

    1. Your new friends don't believe that you were ever ~shy~.

    2. And your old friends don't believe that you're no longer The Quiet One.

    3. You'd rather not talk about middle school.

    4. You regularly need to stress that you're an established individual now.

    5. Your mom still thinks you have no game.

    6. And most people still associate you with being a quiet lil goody-two-shoes.

    7. If you're being honest, you still surprise yourself with your cursing sometimes.

    8. And some people are still shocked when you chime in with a joke. Or when you chime in at all, for that matter.

    9. You're pretty much always down for a party, because your sociability has been cooped up for so long.

    10. But you still need alone time, especially after a lot of social interaction.

    11. You still have flashbacks to events that used to make you cry, like class presentations and secret admirers and track meets.

    12. Even small things can unleash the anxiety of days past.

    13. And you relate to the introverts that are still shy.

    14. You have to accept that your family will always successfully embarrass you, no matter how far you've come.

    15. And some people still treat you like a doormat, without realizing you can be assertive.

    16. But you still have a tough time asking for help.

    "I can DO this!"

    17. Because you just really wanna show the world what you're made of!

    18. Maybe sometimes you come across as TOO eager.

    19. Because you embrace yourself so fully that you're proud of even the most unflattering pictures.

    20. You literally don't care what people think any more.

    21. Because at this point, you're just doin' you.
