6 Things The Next Batman Game Should Have

I love the new Batman games and have purchased all of them plus some DLC. These games have actually made me love Batman more and more. So much that, Batman is now officially my favorite super hero of all time. However, I am a novice when it comes to the real fans. I have only played the games, watched the cartoons, but I have not read a single comic (yes not one). I try to enlighten my knowledge of Batman through Wikipedia, but I obviously lose a lot of details just reading summaries and synopsis. Anyways, the following list is just a compilation of things I’d like to personally see in future Batman games and does not reflect the opinions of other Batman fans.

1. Integrating more characters into the free roam campaign

I understand the game is named Batman, but with so many heroes in the Batman universe, fans are dying for more variety. Previous and current DLC of Robin, Catwoman, Nightwing and Joker were fun in the Challenge maps. With the exception of Catwoman, challenge maps tend to get boring and redundant without context (for me at least). In the next game, it'd be amazing if we are able to switch characters mid game, or if parts of the game are only able to be completed with multiple characters. For example, in order to capture a particular villain, several steps need to be accomplished. Batman would do one set of steps while a counter-part would do another set (Think Onimusha 3: Demon Siege). With online co-op, a friend could help complete these tasks simultaneously. You can even engage in dual fights where Batman plus buddy can take on multiple people and do combo moves.

2. Customized upgrades for Batman

I think it's time to give players the option of customizing their own Batman so that it suits each player to their own unique playing style. For example, players have the option to add-on armor plating to the suit, but it slows Batman down a bit at the same time and decreases range of gliding and so forth. Players can choose to upgrade his gauntlets with the electric gloves or a different add-on like being able to shoot those forearm thingies Batman did in The Dark Knight. This would allow users to customize their own Batman to their own liking. They can sacrifice agility and speed for armor and endurance. If that's too complicated then maybe Batman has different suits for different scenarios? This wouldn't be just change in the skin, but it would even change some his abilities. It'd be interesting to get some cloaking tech for Batman.

3. New villains to go after

As iconic as the Joker is, there needs to be a change in villains. The Joker seems to still be at large plus Black Mask and the Penguin are always causing trouble. With so many super villains in the Batman universe, there needs to be more variety in who needs to be captured and who is the ultimate villain for the game. For a moment, we thought Black Mask was the main villain of the last game (SPOILER ALERT) but then we find out that it was Joker all along. It was kind of a letdown if you ask me.

4. Travelling outside of Gotham/Arkham

The villains of Gotham aren't just isolated to Gotham. Ra's Al Ghul and other characters operate in wide variety of places. What if Batman had to go track down Ra's in his backyard? I would even go as far as being able to visit other DC cities like Metropolis, Star City, etc. This might start crossing the streams of other DC characters and might even open it up to more games for the DC world. However, Batman wouldn't necessarily have to see/help other heroes, he just happens to have to go to said city.

5. Bruce Wayne moments

We got a taste of this in Arkham City, but it would be interesting if at some point in the game, there is a task where only Bruce Wayne can achieve such as placing a bug on someone without assaulting them and said person happens to be someone easily accessible to Bruce Wayne. Being a playboy billionaire, Bruce Wayne has got to know a lot of people and have connections to all facets of life. Perhaps, he does business with Roman Sionis or pretends to just to snoop around his office. I fee like this can open new things in the Batman world.

6. Variable Endings

Similar to games like Mass Effect. Batman should be given a variety of choices that affects the relationships around him and the out come of the game itself. At some point, I'm sure Batman finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Does Batman investigate a crime scene before it gets tampered with or does he stop a street mugging of an innocent civilian who also happens to be a relative of the Mayor? He doesn't have time for both. WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE?!
