It was obvious from the start that KP’s song was derivative. I’m so over her. Can we just get a sex tape and move on?

Well, they’re both produced by the exact same guy: Dr. Luke—and most of his stuff is super-catchy. And sounds totally alike. If anything, both of these songs rip the same riff off Kylie’s “Love At First Sight.” But who can keep track!

if you actually listen closely, their chord progressions are actually different. they just sound similar because of the beat and some of the sounds. but then again, there has been plenty of these case in which different songs sound similar. its just that there is a limited amount of chord progressions people can make until it goes back around to the same one. just like how we are in the 2010’s and fashion is back at the 80’s

The irony is that Katy Perry was the one who gave Kesha her start. Kesha sang backup on Katy’s song “Right Around” with Flo Rida. Music execs were impressed with Kesha and offered her a record deal.  Now here we are and people think Katy is copying Kesha, lol. I agree with previous posters that this is the fault of the producers who worked on both these songs.

Listen to pop music much? Many songs have similar BPM’s and can easily be overlapped/remixed, and are often utilized in such a manner when a DJ is playing them. Not really a surprise.
