1. You don’t know how to drive a car.

11. Trick-or-treating on Halloween was an event organized by your apartment building’s co-op board.
12. When you were a teenager, going out meant either ESPN Zone in Times Square, or Leisure Time bowling in Port Authority Bus Terminal.
13. When you tell people you grew up in Manhattan, they respond with shock and disbelief, and will always ask you “so what was that like??”
14. Decorating for Christmas involved your apartment building’s super putting up a tree in the lobby, and your parents taping a cardboard cut out of Santa Claus to your apartment door.
15. People stood up on the subway for your mom when she was pregnant with you.
16. When you tell people you grew up in Manhattan, they will invariably say something like “I can’t imagine growing up there.” But you can’t imagine having grown up anywhere else :)
