Try French, it’s not just English that throws random letters around. For example the o sound in French could be spelt like o, au, aux, eau, ault (and probably more). Old languages or blended languages tend to get really messy

This is sort of really dumb. Yeah English could make more sense, but these are all examples of words that sound a certain why depending on the preceding letters, so not that confusing.
