Over at The Gutters, artist Jeremy Rock took a new angle on classic comic book advice. There may be 22 Panels That Always Work according to MAD creator Wally Wood, but there are at least 4 panels that no longer do.

Speakers on the Times Square screen? Crazy! Also, these hack comic book writers should know that NYC also has no Avengers Mansion, Baxter Building, or Daily Bugle newspaper. And, when in New York, I’ve never once seen a guy swinging around on webs, or flying in a metal suit, or shooting red energy blasts from his eyes. What are those guys thinking? I mean, audio from that big TV? How could THAT be real?

Okay I agree with all of it. But honestly, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo did a great job of pulling the back stab off in Batman. The orientation changing on the pages and everything up to that point made the final page really mean something.
