7 Fears That Are Totally Conquerable

The definition of bravery is being afraid... and doing it anyway. A reminder from Divergent — a film where a young woman learns what it takes to overcome her fears — now playing in theaters and IMAX. Tickets on sale now.

Everyone is afraid sometimes, and that's OK!

Fortunately, here's some help overcoming your fears.

1. Afraid of spiders (arachnophobia)?

Conquer your fear by looking up images of "cute spiders" on the internet.

DON'T try in vivo therapy like this. Ever.

2. For a fear of insects (entomophobia)...

...an extreme approach might be too, well, extreme.

3. The fear of drowning (aquaphobia) isn't just limited to humans.

Holding your breath in the bathtub is a safe, immersive start to overcoming this fear.

4. Many people have a fear of heights (acrophobia) or fear of falling.

Skydiving might be too overwhelming, but there are alternatives.

5. One of the most common fears is the fear of public speaking (glossophobia).

It helps to practice your speech in front of a very small, supportive audience... made up of animals. Seriously.

6. Many people have the fear of failure (atychiphobia) at some time or another.

Remember: The worst that can happen is your failure might get turned into a GIF.

7. Overcoming a fear of rejection can be very challenging.

This is a tough one that can't be solved with a simple GIF, but it helps to remember this:
