The Rules Of Social Media

These are the most perfect rules of social media, that every single user of social media should take into consideration.

1. PLEASE Don't be "That couple"

You're in a relationship, we get it! But as Bobby here puts it in the most perfect way possible, please, please, PLEASE don't be that annoying couple on your Facebooks.. that everyone can see. It's perfectly acceptable to be with in love with each other, just don't go crazy on your social media outlets confessing your love for each other everyday! That is what texting, e-mails, or something as simple as a phone call (yes, those still exist today!). So please, don't be "that couple" on Facebook and you'll be just fine!

2. Enough of the Selfies!

Everyday is not "#SelfieSunday" so please stop posting selfies of yourself every. single. day! Most of the time when I am viewing social media and see a selfie, I usually skip over it, mainly because I've seen the same face and pose on your for roughly 30 pictures in the past 2 weeks, I stopped caring! If you want to make an impression with your Selfies, make them unique, and stop posting them everyday!

3. Don't Make Yourself Seem Tougher Than You Actually Are

It's the Internet/Social Media. You're sitting behind a computer, phone, tablet, whichever you prefer. There is no need for you to make yourself seem like a "bad ass" on the Internet, mainly because no one cares! No one will respect you more if you are an Internet tough guy, mainly because it is amusing to most people, such as myself. So next time you're on your social media, don't be that "Internet tough guy" and people will respect you more and won't "lol" at you.

4. Don't "Like" Every Single Thing!

There is no need for you to "Like" every single thing from another person! Whether it be Facebook statuses, pictures, Tweets, etc., there is no need for you to leave your mark on every single thing that is posted. Although you might think it's "cute" or just showing affection, it might come off as somewhat stalker-ish, and can be very annoying! So next time, just leave it at a "Like"/"Favorite" every few times, that way, you don't come off as crazy, and that goes for Males AND Females too!

5. Don't Be Insufferable!

My favorite example of being insufferable is the "Rich Kid's of Instagram" account, which shows pictures of kid's who (presumably) have extremely wealthy parents, and what their lifestyle is like. It can be from their cars, vacations, or their receipt from going out. Being insufferable is very high up on the list of ways to become hated by every person that follows you or is friends with you (unless they are just as wealthy as you are). Being insufferable makes it seem that you are trying to be better than everyone else, and whoop-de-doo if you are, congratulations, I'm very happy for you, but that does not mean I want to look at your pictures of your awesome life! So next time you're on your yacht off the coast of Spain, just forget to post that to Instagram and live up the trip through your eyes, not your camera lense, you'll be a lot more liked that way!

6. Enough of the Food Pictures!

Although I am guilty of this myself, this ranks up there with selfies on annoying things to post to social media, mainly Instagram. Unless you are a professional chef, I do not think people would care about your mediocre looking food with a Lo-Fi filter added on, making it seem less appetizing than it already is. Until you make food that is Five-Star rated quality and presentable, keep the food pictures off of your social media!

7. Don't Be That Creepy Guy (Or Girl)

There's a fine line between being nice, and being creepy. Never, I repeat, NEVER cross that line! Andy up there found the hard way of crossing that line, and ruined any chance with Alexis. If you don't cross the creepy line, you will see your relationships flourish and people will like you a lot more. Learn to filter yourself on what you say and post, that way, you will have no problems and won't be known as "the creepy guy (or girl)".

8. Annoying Workout Posts

You go to the gym, congratulations!... so do millions of other Americans and people around the world. Although I am a fan of Crossfit and working out, I do not feel the need to constantly post about it. But there are a certain group of people, especially avid Crossfitters, who feel the need to post their every workout. Personally, I laugh when I see people post "Ran a mile, I'm so exhausted but feel so good!" That's great for you, I'm proud of you, but as an athlete, I do not post every workout I do for practice, which is twice a day, because people would hate me for it! I always enjoyed the quote that says "You can go to the gym without telling people about it!" So next time you're at the gym, just put the phone away and focus on the reason why you're there!

9. Don't Go Seeking For Attention

Don't be one of those "attention seeking whores" on social media. Most of the time, people do not want to be your therapist on social media, and will often overlook your problems. Especially if you constantly post your problems on social media, it will be overlooked even more, and could even result in losing friends (if that means so much to you). If you have serious problems, consult a professional to help you, not your Facebook friends, who are most likely not professionals.

10. Have Fun With It!

The last, and most important rule, is to just have fun with it! Social media and the Internet has infinite possibilities for people to use, and a lot of those possibilities can be fun to use. Whether it is fooling around with friends and "making fun" of them, proving someone terribly wrong (which is very amusing and fun), or posting a hilarious status/tweet, social media is meant to be fun! So don't be afraid of anything with social media (just take these rules into consideration) and go out and post! Go and discover what social media has to offer; from Facebook to Reddit, Pinterest to Buzzfeed, explore them all and learn to love them, but more importantly, enjoy what you're using and just have a kick-ass time with social media!
