It's not like they're taking any more risks than any family 50 years ago didn't. They probably chew lead and drink mercury, too. In all seriousness, if you've ever seen a 7 year old play video games, you know they're WAY more coordinated than any adult. Probably not much less safe than a 16 year old learning to drive, except the airbag would F him up.

Looks like a deserted county road to me, only problem is maybe having the car loaded with family.  When I was 8 my grandfather used to let me drive the pickup back from dinner while I sat on his lap. Once I hit 10 years old I was big enough to reach the peddles so he let me drive back home when we went out to eat. Granted this was on a farm community and there wasn't a lot of traffic but it really prepared me for driving and gave me one of the greatest memories I will ever have.
