Hillary Clinton Put Rosa Parks On Her Campaign Logo And People Aren’t Feeling It
“You could’ve at least let Rosa sit at the front of the logo.”
1. Tuesday marks 60 years since Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat for a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama — a potent symbol of defiance and a landmark moment in the struggle for civil rights.
2. On Twitter, Hillary Clinton paid tribute to Parks in a tweet the Democratic presidential contender apparently penned herself.
History often gets made on ordinary days by seemingly ordinary people—December 1, 1955 was one of them. Thank you, Rosa Parks. -H
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton)
3. To mark the day, her campaign also changed the Clinton “H” logo to include an image of Parks.
4. People were…not exactly into it.
Rosa and her legacy are both above this. Nah. I'm not feeling it for *any* candidate.

No one on @HillaryClinton's team suggested that the addition of Rosa Parks was a TERRIBLE, AWFUL idea?
— Kimberly Reese (@PEARLfectChassi)
Hillary gotta fire whoever threw Rosa Parks on the logo. Gotta do it tonight.
— Hanif Abdurraqib (@NifMuhammad)
Hillary Clinton has (what appears to be) Rosa Parks in her logo. I’m disgusted.
— Ebenigga Scrooge (@PhillyTheBoss)
Hillary could speak about it, tweet about it, release a statement. Cross branding your brand with Rosa Parks is classless.
— Ebenigga Scrooge (@PhillyTheBoss)
@PhillyTheBoss IMO, Hilary's logo is another example of how Black ppl can't have shit without someone else wanting a piece.

12. Some even wondered whether Clinton was hiding a time-travel machine from us.
wow Hillary Clinton traveled back in time to get Rosa Parks' endorsement wow
— allisomething jolly (@Allisomething)
13. A campaign spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. However, the logo did have its fans.
Can we please talk about how amazing the @HillaryClinton logos have been lately?! Check out the Rosa Parks version
— Sarah J. Galvez (@SJ_Galvez)
15. There was one rather unfortunate element of the design, though.
You could've at least let Rosa sit at the front of the logo @HillaryClinton.
— the other one (@imfromraleigh)
i'm the racist bus driver that made rosa parks sit at the back of the hillary logo, AMA

- This feels wrong. They shouldn’t have appropriated her image like this.
- This is really disrespectful.
- I like it. I think it’s a nice, simple way of honoring Parks.
- Everyone needs to calm down. It’s a Twitter logo.
- I have a different opinion which can’t be expressed in a poll but which I’ll explain in the comments.
CORRECTION
Parks refused to give up her bus seat in the “colored section” of the bus for a white passenger when the “white section” at the front became full. An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated she had refused to move to the back of the bus.
