    Held in Selcuk, Turkey. The festival is about as straightforward as its name suggests. Two camels battle it out as spectators cheer them on. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

    Held in Ivrea, Italy. The festival culminates in an all out street war with oranges as ammunition. Looks like a lot of fun!

  • 4. The Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge

    Held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Includes a “Crustacean 500 race” and a “Miss Curvaceous Crustacean Beauty Pageant.” Sexy.

  • 5. Noche de Rabanos (Night of the Radishes)

    Held in Oaxaca, Mexico. What began as a way for Mexican vendors to sell radishes has turned in a festival centering on overgrown radish sculptures.

  • 6. Summer Redneck Games

    Held in East Dublin, Georgia. A festival that touts itself as “more fun than indoor plumming” and includes games such as bobbin' for pigs feet, a watermelon seed spitting contest, and a mudpit belly flop competition.

    Held in Clinton, Montana. The festival invites festival-goers to “have a ball.” HA!

  • 8. Monkey Buffet Festival

    Held in Thailand. Don't worry — this is in no way a festival celebrating monkey-cide. Instead, each year monkeys are invited to feast on over 3000 kg of fruits and vegetables as well as other treats.

  • 9. Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake

    Held in Gloucestershire, England. Each year participants run down a (ridiculously steep) hill after a wheel of cheese. The first person to make it across the finish line wins the cheese. The rest generally win broken limbs.

  • 10. The Baby Jumping Festival

    Held in Castrillo de Murcia, Spain. For the last 400 years, men dressed as the devil have been hopping over babies in a festival described as “one of the most dangerous in the world.” Sign me up.

  • 11. Roadkill Cookoff

    Held in Marlinton, West Virginia. Participants square off to see who can cook the best “groundhog, o'possum, deer, rabbit, squirrel, snake” among other delicious treats (like the scorpion above).

  • 12. Kanamara Matsuri (Festival of the Steel Phallus)

    Held in Kawasaki, Japan. From Wikipedia: “The Kanamara Matsuri is centered the legend of a sharp-toothed demon that hid inside the vagina of a young girl and castrated two young men on their wedding nights. As a result, the young girl sought help with a blacksmith, who fashioned an iron phallus to break the demon's teeth.” Festival goers celebrate by making food, crafts, and costumes all shaped like penises.
