All over America the timeless debate still exists: is it called POP or SODA? See for yourself what parts of the country get it right (or wrong).
In Australia we call them Soft Drinks. I think the same might be for the UK as well.
It’s soda, hands down.
Also, why would anyone use “coke” as a general term? That’s a specific brand. I say “coke” when I want a Coke. And usually end up with Pepsi.
There really should be a small amount of “other” over the greater Boston area. I know when I was growing up we called it “Tonic”. Anyone else?
