In 1979, an oil well in the Gulf of Mexico operated by Transocean erupted and an Alaska pipeline cracked. They tried the top kill, the junk shot, booms, chemical dispersants, and mud. Oil gushed out for 9 months until relief wells were dug.
What’s the difference? The well was in 200 feet of water instead of 5000 feet.
