I can understand how this could seem like a good idea for electronics/clothing retailers because people definitely shop for that stuff online. I work in retail and it’s really frustrating to spend time with a customer and help them find something they love only for them to say they’ll look for it on our website because it’s not on sale today (and then usually within a week they come in to make online returns!) But do people really shop for that much gluten-free food online?? And what’s to prevent them from using their phone in the store to buy other items online on the spot and then just buy enough to get their $5 fee back??
