DBM has a point. You don't actually READ the sign before you stop. Maybe signs telling you to take this interstate to go to that city require knowledge of whatever language happens to be most widely spoken in a country, but warning signs and such don't. They are universally recognizable so anyone can understand that they should yield, lest they get rammed by a semi. So, all the signs that are meant to warn and prevent accidents are universal.
