Owner Of The Bakery Where Ariana Grande Licked Doughnuts Says He Is Pressing Charges

Grande is banned for life from Wolfee Donuts, according to store owner Joe Marin.

News outlets around the world are reporting that Ariana Grande will not face charges for an incident in which she licked doughnuts in a California bakery last week. But the owner of Wolfee Donuts told a Toronto radio show today that the reports are false.

The news that Grande would not face charges originated with TMZ. It reported that "a rep for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department tells TMZ, the owner of Wolfee Donuts does not want to press charges, so it's case closed."

Joe Marin of Wolfee Donuts told the Roz & Mocha show this morning that he's been reading the reports with disbelief because he has been in touch with police about pressing charges.

"I did press charges and then when I was reading the newspaper it said that ... I decided not to, and I don't know where that came from," he said.

Marin said he filed charges on Monday, July 6.

Grande was caught licking two doughnuts on security footage from the store. She also said at one point, "I hate America. I hate Americans." She later apologized for her remarks.

Marin was asked if Grande is banned for life from Wolfee Donuts. He gave an emphatic "yes."

Then he was asked if he would welcome her back if she apologized to him personally for her doughnut offences.

"No," he said.

A key issue for Marin is that the footage led to a health inspection of his bakery. That resulted in Wolfee Donuts receiving a "B" rating, down from an "A."

He said it has hurt his business. The downgrade was because doughnuts were placed out on the counter without being covered. Regulations require uncovered food to be kept behind glass.

The interview with Roz and Mocha, who according to a publicity photo also enjoy playing with their food, featured Marin detailing an amusing doughnut-licking-related exchange with police.

"Last time I talked to the police officer, he said, 'Well, how many did she lick?' And I said she licked two of them and spit on two of them," Marin said.

The officer asked Marin, "How many doughnuts are you out?"

"I said I could throw the whole tray out," Marin said. "He said, 'How much money did you lose?' And I said, 'Well, it was four doughnuts that she was messing with with.'"

The officer therefore concluded Marin suffered damages of $4.

"I said that's not the point, though," Marin told the show, noting that his business has suffered as a result of the B health rating.

"I think she should be pressed with charges," Marin said. "Just because she's popular… If it was one of us, like a regular customer, they would do something about it."
