This is one of my favorite commercials of all time. It's from 2010, for Voltaren pain cream (a Novartis product). It's a crime it didn't win anything at Cannes. (It was short-listed).
The spot is so simple, as most great commercials are. The copy is hilarious, and the actor is spot-on perfect. Could it work for any pain cream? Of course. But that's true of many great ads. If you sell the category better and more memorably than everybody else, you still win.
