Chick-Fil-A Makes "Fruitcake" Joke In Ad
In Georgia.
As a commenter on Towleroad says, the “fruitcake” copy on this coupon ad may just be limited to the Chambers Plaza franchise location in Georgia. If you’ve seen it elsewhere, let us know in the comments.
Fruitcake” of course also means “nuts.” But because of the advertiser, I think we can pretty safely assume that they didn’t just mean “nuts.”

allebaba40 7 months agoAren’t we supposed to be working toward an end to bullying? This is a great example of why our younger generations think its ok to pick on people who are “different”. They are a chain business, they need to be setting an example for young people whether they approve of gay people or not! My mom always taught me “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything”, and I bet you 10 to 1 the high ups for this chain were raised on the same principle. But then again these seem like the type of people who would try and stop equality for black people and women if we were in those times. Its sick, and something needs to be done!

joes30 7 months agoIt irks me when I hear someone say to a marginalized group of people to “get the fuck over it.” If Susan B. Anthony “got the fuck over it” women wouldn’t be able to vote. If Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks “got the fuck over it” blacks wouldn’t have any rights. If the drag queens at Stonewall “got the fuck over it” gays would still get arrested for being gay. It’s pretty callous and self-centered to tell someone to “get the fuck over it” simply because the issue at hand does not directly impact you. So I say “get the fuck over it” that some people aren’t going to “get the fuck over it.” Many of the rights you take for granted are in place because some people decided not to “get the fuck over it.”

Richard Parker 7 months agoMaking your voice heard and not standing idly by in the presence of an injustice is how you change the world. One could argue that we best exercise our first amendment rights when we successfully quash an injustice.

I would say it were a stretch, but a.) it’s not Christmas-themed, which is pretty much the only time you see anyone mention the word “fruitcake” anymore, and b.) most Chick-Fil-A supporters and higher-ups seem like Pierce from “Community” - homophobic, old-fashioned, and completely devoid of wit.

Two comments I’m sick of seeing: 1. “I’m gay, and this type of homophobia is ok with me, so that makes it ok.” 2. “It’s freedom of speech. They have the right to their opinions.” Both ignorant. Both incredibly inane.
