He memorizes their shapes, locations and the architectural flourishes, and will do so with New York City after a brief helicopter ride.

I'm not denying his gift, but isn't kind of odd that he was holding a camera while he was in the helicopter flying as well as when he was on the streets in NYC? Perhap's it's pics for people back at home… it just seem's strange to me.
