Teen Killed By Shark Attack In Queensland

    A 17-year-old boy died Monday in Queensland, Australia, after he was bitten by a shark.

    The shark attack took place at Rudder Reef, near Port Douglas, around 11:30 a.m. local time, ABC reported. The teen, believed to be a Far North local, died after attempts by emergency medical workers to resuscitate him on a boat failed, the Brisbane Times reported. He suffered serious wounds to his leg and thigh.

    An ambulance service official said the boy died about 10 minutes after the attack and his death was likely due to blood loss, the Courier Mail reported.

    It was the third fatal shark attack in Australia this year, according to Australian Geographic.
