Death Of 35-Year-Old American Woman Under Investigation In Italy

The death of Ashley Olsen, who was found in her apartment in Florence, is being investigated as a homicide.

Authorities in Italy have opened a murder investigation after a 35-year-old American woman was found dead in her apartment on Saturday.

La Stampa reported that Ashley Olsen, originally from Florida, was found with bruises on her neck in her apartment in Florence's historic center. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Olsen had moved to Florence to be closer to her father, who taught art in the area. She had been dating an Italian man, who was questioned by police. He is not a suspect, a prosecutor's office spokesperson told NBC News.

Olsen had studied fashion and was involved in local arts as well as the ex-pat community. Her social media posts were full of fashion, art, and photos of her beagle, Scout.

In addition to the autopsy, authorities are looking into her computer and a surveillance camera near her apartment, Corriere Della Sera reported. Her apartment showed no signs of forced entry, the paper reported.
