I don’t like it (the billboard). I think it plays into the whole “I’m okay with lesbians… as long as I can watch” mentality — which is just misogyny and homophobia disguised as tolerance. Gay people deserve to be able to marry, not because straight people get their rocks off watching young, hot women kiss, but because they are human beings with rights. Gay marriage is for old as well as young, fat as well as slim, and ugly as well as beautiful. Let’s not confuse the issue.

I will give you this, there is hateful misogony towards lesbians who don’t fit the bill of being hot, but this isn’t one of those types of deals. If it were two men with the same message would you say the same thing? Just wondering.

Okay, lemme give you an example. Interracial marriage used to be illegal in many states. In some cases, people’s children were actually taken from them against their will and placed with foster families because one parent was white and one was black. So would your billboard supporting the legal rights for interracial families have a wedding cake topper of an attractive interracial couple embracing, with the line “we don’t care who’s on top?” If you were a parent who had fought to regain custody of your child, would that seem respectful? If you were a gay person who was refused insurance coverage for cancer treatment, or kept out of the ER while your partner was dying, would “we don’t care who’s on top” seem like the right message to you?

OK? So, just because the billboard pictures two brides rather than two grooms, you assume this choice was made simply for people who “get their rocks off” watching women kiss? I highly doubt someone’s lesbian fantasy had anything to do with the creation of this billboard by a *church* that is essentially promoting lifelong monogamy and commitment.
