Woh there spinster. “Look, first of all” Under the new law if they can walk up to anyone and ask for proof of citizenship then you KNOW there's a problem in Arizona that warrants it. The Gov. didn't sign this bill with such powers without just cause and purpose. I'm sure every officer will know their legal boundries before you're worst imagination runs wild and police start banging every house in the neighborhood like SS Gestapo. Give humanity some fucking credit dude, there are laws and they are being broken beyond acceptance in that state. If you're of a demographic responsible for an increase in crime rate then you better learn the language, and carry proof of citizenship… Not terribly difficult if you're going to live here. If a cop pulled me over and asked me I'd hand him my state issued license, with my government mandated vehicle insurance and state issued vehicle registration form (and you're worried about a police state, um newsflash slomo.. were already there.)  Let me use the ole liberal saying in regards to privacy.. *clears throat* “If you don't have anything to hide, then there's nothing to worry about” That felt good, but slightly dirty in affect. You're assuming the worst of this. It took a long time to get this law in place. I hope the police can handle the changes without the wrongful imprisonments.  Innocent until proven guilty, it's not terribly difficult to prove your a real citizen of this country. I don't foresee the problem.

Thanks Chris. Its nice to read your comment, or any comment that doesn't fit the 'I'm hip'n'shit political conformity mold'. But attempts to further the discussion with out drowing out the finer points everyone fails to acknowledge. The police will finally have the backing of the state to change its downward spiral. I hope all works out for them. Arizona is a nice place when you're not worrying about the increasing home invasions and auto theft. But New Yorkers wouldn't know or care to know the real reasons behind the laws such as the rampant crime rates and government hand outs to people who shouldn't have been there in the first place.
