1. Since season one, the writers of Arthur have smoked fat joints while coming up with new story lines for the show. This explains moments like when Francine's head literally popped off her entire body and landed in a yard.
2. Francine and Sue Ellen were secretly hooking up with each other in their dressing rooms during the entire second season. Things ended abruptly when Sue Ellen found out Francine was also ~getting to know~ Molly the bunny.
3. PBS executives told Muffy to get rid of her buck teeth after the first season to increase her sex appeal. She has since said it was "the worst decision of my life."
4. The character Prunella, a smart and sometimes snobbish anthropomorphic poodle, was loosely based on Anne Hathaway.
5. Despite their on-screen friendship, Muffy and Francine actually hate each other off-screen. Many believe this is because their families come from historically conflicting monkey tribes.
6. Jane, the actress who plays Arthur's mom, has had 37 cosmetic surgeries throughout the series, including a breast augmentation.
7. Arthur may portray an aardvark on-screen, but he's actually a giant gerbil in real life.
The aardvark community has consistently petitioned to take Arthur off the air since its debut for allowing a gerbil to portray the suppressed and underrepresented aardvark culture.
8. During season three, an episode titled "Buster's Busted Nut" was pulled last minute from airing after PBS decided the plot was too racy for a children's show. They were probably right.
9. Although he plays Arthur's dad in the series, David came out of the closet during season four after a relationship between him and Nigel (Mr. Ratburn) began to form off-screen. They're now married with a baby Ratburn on the way.
10. George was supposed to have a bigger role in the series but has never fit in with the other cast members. The writers decided to make his character "awkward" and often "isolated" to reflect this true dynamic between him and the cast. No one likes him to this day.
11. Jenna Morgan plays a third grader in Arthur, but did you know she's actually a grumpy 52 year old cat on her eighth life? It all makes sense when you factor in her severely thinning hair.
12. When Arthur's salary leaked to the public after season three, the show almost came to a screeching halt. The other cast members threatened to quit unless they were paid equally as the lead character. PBS hesitantly obliged.
13. Although Alan, aka "The Brain," plays a genius on-screen, he reportedly has the lowest IQ of the cast (including Pal, Arthur's pet dog) and constantly stumbles on his scientific lines.
14. D.W. is the biggest diva on set. It's reported she demands five bowls of marshmallow-only Lucky Charms to be ready for her every time she's in her dressing room.
15. On top of her dressing room demands, D.W. refuses to wear the same outfit twice. Even though her character wears the same white tights and pink dress in every episode, D.W. demands a new pair every time she's on camera.
16. There's an alleged sex tape (infamously dubbed "Doggy Style") between Fern and Binky. It's rumored Muffy has the only copy of the tape and often threatens to sell it to TMZ to leverage pay raises with PBS.
17. Arthur and Buster have always been ~close~ since they first met on set. Numerous cast members claimed to have seen explicit acts happen between the two, but nothing has ever been confirmed.
