To be clear, I wholeheartedly support most gun control measures, for a lot of reasons. But to cavalierly dismiss out of hand people’s concern for personal safety irks me. My girlfriend was rapped and nearly murdered (an anecdote, I know). The police just chalked it up as another statistic (this was a stranger crime in NYC) and moved on.

Yeah, I hate it when people use anecdotes, like the Sandy Hook shooting, to justify their arguments. I mean come on, look at the stats. Who kills more people in total: deranged psychopaths with a gun or rapists?

@Cristianh4: really? Ever heard of target shooting just as a sport? Have a look at the Olympic Games for example…

gee Christiana think before you right. If a gun or rifle saves my or my families lives it has a legitimate value. In fact more value than the cop coming to responde to shots fired

I have handguns so that if I ever get into a life or death situation, I can protect myself. Because let’s face it, a 120 lbs girl can’t do much against a big man. I have never even thought about killing another human being, unless they are trying to kill me. Example: Every woman who has been raped and beaten or kidnapped, or murdered. Sherry Arnold in Sidney, Montana, if she would have been packing, she would have never went missing or found dead. Do some research before making untrue statements!

You are a crazy person for having thought that sentence, let alone having typed it into a comment field on the internet. Everyone who reads that sentence is automatically dumber for having read it.
