The 5 Most Random Films To Win An Oscar

It's the Oscars this weekend so I thought I'd do a list of the 5 most random films to have won one... you'll be VERY surprised by number 5!

1. Aladdin

Yes. Aladdin. Won for best song. It is difficult to think of Aladdin ever being at the cinema... in my head it will always exist on battered VHS.

2. Avatar

Right, OK. I know LOADS of people love Avatar. And yes, it won three Oscars for visual effects and that. Fair enough. But it was nominated for BEST PICTURE as well!? Come on! It's essentially just a remake of FernGully.

3. The Nutty Professor

Yes! It was for makeup. Yes it was the 90s, but seriously. The Nutty Professor? THE NUTTY PROFESSOR?!?

4. Rocky

Ok, Rocky is actually pretty good but Oscar good? Hmm. It won BEST PICTURE and BEST DIRECTOR and was nominated for 10! AAAADDDDDDRRRRIIIIAAAN, I DID IT!

I knew a lad who genuinely used to watch Rocky every day before college. He must have been the most motivated guy in the world...

5. Harry and the Hendersons

Yep. That's right. You may think it only existed for 90s Saturday afternoon telly but it WON A FUCKING OSCAR! Get in Harry Lad!
