I’m a conservative, and I found this really insightful. A refined message worked for Democrats in 2008, but I think the Republican party has to do more than refine its message. It needs to evolve. The problem isn’t message; it is meaning. The current Republican platform includes too many fringe issues that are clearly waning in popularity. A significant platform change might be seen as a compromise in principles… but what does that matter if the sands of time and change have already compromised those principles?
