Ai WeiWei Quits Tweeter. Follower Artist Zhao Creates This Iconic Piece As A Farewell Gift.

Chinese Artist Ai Weiwei, once ranked the most influential artist of the year, is quitting twitter. His followers are saddened but inspired by the man and his spirit.

With over 100,000 tweets and 200,000 followers, Ai Weiwei is certainly a force to be reckon with on the twittersphere.

but he's stopping today/tomorrow - the last midnight of 2013.

Many reasons and rumours abound, but the official one seems to be of him not wanting to repeat himself.

Despite most tweets being insightful, witty and brilliant.

And as farewell gifts, many of his followers are sending more than just well wishes - lots of art were inspired and this one in particular, by Singaporean artist, zhao, stands out.

Entitled "Dream" it features the Ai Weiwei on a bike and a basket full of flowers flying over a strange moon.

It is known that from November 25th 2013 on, Ai Weiwei will place fresh flowers inside the basket of a bicycle parked outside his studio every day, till the day he gets his rights to travel (his passport) back.

These closely monitored flowers get stolen every single day.

The moon in the piece resembles Ai's Moon project. Where one could post a sketch on a moon to be shared with everyone.

it seems like, to zhao, Ai Weiwei is a victim, an ET.
