My Night At London's Harry Potter Hotel As Told By Snapchat

The Room of Requirement IRL.

1. The Georgian House Hotel in Victoria, London, is pleased to say that it is perfectly normal, thank you very much.

It's the last place you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious.

2. But the Georgian House Hotel has a secret.

3. There are four "Wizard Chambers" in the hotel's basement.

Equipped with four-poster beds and fireplaces.

4. So I obviously had to stay there.

I mean, if I could look into the Mirror of Erised I would just see me surrounded by as much Harry Potter-themed stuff as wizardly possible. My fellow BuzzFeed writer, Daniel Dalton, headed out with me to try another room out for himself.

5. The Wizard Chambers are pretty damn cool.

The keys are owls, there was reading material in the room, and Harry Potter movies could be rented from reception.

6. The hotel is right in the heart of central London.

Down the road from Wicked at the Apollo Theatre if you fancy some more magic.

7. It doesn't give you full access to the rest of the Wizarding World.

OK, full disclosure: I did not actually try to flush myself to the ministry. So you know, it might actually work, we'll never know.

8. But does offer packages including trips to the Warner Brothers Studios and a Potter-themed London walking tour.

Both are great, but a trip to the studio means stocking up on Wizarding sweets.

9. I do wish a Remembrall had come with the hotel package.

Alohomora didn't work either, so I just had to give up and use my Muggle key.

10. I had my own midnight duel.

I earned, like, a bazillion points for Gryffindor.

11. There were not any fantastic beasts that I could find.

But I slept easier knowing that, tbh.

12. I might have brought my own Sorting Hat.

But the hotel was totally on top of the stool.

13. And it was 100% worth it.

14. The decor was on point.

The Wizard Chambers aren't technically Harry Potter ~branded~, but that was kind of nice because they felt a bit more authentic and less over-the-top than they might have otherwise.

15. And the toilets were very nice.

Considering the fact that Hogwarts toilets tend to be ghost and troll infested portals to underground crypts, I was both disappointed and relieved by this.

16. There were bars on my window, which was a little bit weird.

I was really hoping a flying Ford Anglia would come to my rescue.

17. And owl post apparently isn't a thing in central London.

I tried to return to sender but the only owl in the room turned out to be wooden.

18. But I did find a cauldron under my bed for emergency brewing purposes.

Sleeping in a new bed is hard, so it's always nice to be able to whip up a quick Sleeping Draught.

19. I didn't run into any baddies during my stay.

But I ditched my diary just in case.

The staff were pretty great actually, and I didn't spot a single house elf, so you know, ethical and that.

21. It was a freaking gem and I would 100% live there.
