Lovers.. oh, that word bums me out unless it’s between meat and pizza. -Liz
Milhouse: Oh puppy goo goo, fetch me a dream. Homer: Jesus loves you. Just kidding!
My husband and I started with the adoption process 3 1/2 years ago. We decided to try the foster to adopt route about a 2 years ago. We were placed with 2 infants that only stayed with us for 10 days each. December 1st 2013 we were placed with a 3 day old girl. We have had her ever since and our adoption is scheduled June 30. It’s a terribly scary process as you can imagine but I can speak of 3 positives. 1) everything was paid for. We got paid mileage, clothing allowances, toy allowances, she qualified for WIC. The financial burden was minimal. We even get a per diem that will continue until she is 18, a benefit for adopting a foster child. 2) there was no wait. We were placed with a child days after becoming certified. 3) we have a daughter. 100% ours. It’s something to consider. It can be very frustrating and scary but we were told if you stick with fostering Long enough you will definitely get to adopt eventually.
