    Consent is not optional, it's mandatory. It’s not something you are entitled to, and it’s not something you can expect every time you ask for it, even if the person you are asking consented before. Not saying no does not mean yes, because two negatives do not make a positive. Yes means yes. So if you proceed to engage in sexual activity with someone without getting their voluntary consent, that is considered sexual assault and rape.

    Alli Kirkham created this series of cartoons, which perfectly breaks down what consent means. It's really not that hard to understand and respect! We practice asking and giving consent every day. Why should it be any different when it comes to sexual consent?
