Introducing “Luko Owen$”
When it comes to music Luko Owen$ is not staying inside the box. His approach to music is simple, give the people what they want and let them decide whether it’s good,”there is no way you can predict a hit you just got to let it happen”. Born and raised in the Shreveport Louisiana suburb of Minden, Luko honed his skills as a rapper freestyling at parties and battling in cyphers all over his neighborhood known as Warsaw. Luko one fourth of the rap group (Foe Headed Monsta) recently released his debut solo mixtape “#platitbyear” and it is steadily gaining popularity over the internet and in the streets. His current single “Party Like it’s Mardi Gras” feat. KJ is also getting more and more exposure every day. Luko, an Iraq War Veteran has seen hard times and death in his lifetime and he has learned to channel that negative energy into some positive music the likes of which has gotten him exposure on Hot 97 in New York City and attention from several major labels. Luko, being no stranger to the music business, is poised to change the game.
Luko aka Lucas Owens was born and raised in the City of Minden, Louisiana located in the Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area known as the Ark-La-Tex. As a youth Luko grew up in the rough and tumble neighborhoods of Shiney and Warsaw. During this time he saw many of the socio-economic problems associated with crime, urban blight, and drugs. Luko at a young age decided to tune out his problems and channel that into intricate and vivid poetry about his neighborhood. Soon Luko began to freestyle among friends at home and at school. Later after a brief stint in college Luko joined the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq for a tour of duty. Upon his return Luko along with his cousin C.C. and area freestyle legend Kay Jones decided to start rapping making recordings that gained instant recognition from everyone in town. Soon they formed FOE also known as Family Over Everything. This organization grew to be over 20 members strong in two years. Next he formed the local rap supergroup Tha FOE Headed Monsta with Dat Boi Hill, C.C.,and FB Ferrell. The group gained moderate radio airplay with local hits like Self Esteem and Designated Driver. The group was also featured on Hot 97 in New York City. After a brief hiatus Luko decided it was time to go solo releasing his long awaited debut mixtape “#playitbyear”. Luko always an optimist is confident that his latest effort will be remembered for ages as one of the best mixtapes his area has ever heard. He also promises to always give his fans and listeners good quality music.
