They’re not good, but let’s not be hyperbolic when pop lyrics have been dreadful for decades. Nobody remembers the shittiest pop stars from the 50s. They didn’t even fucking try. Whatever caught in people’s heads, that’s what they sang. This is bad, but it’s not some sign that today’s pop lyrics are somehow any more simplistic than they were in the past.
