The prudent course of action when a cat makes a sound like that is, in my experience, to withdraw appendages.

ALL cats are weird. This cat likes the brushing, that's what the “licking the chops” motion is. Cats do that if they enjoy the scratching or if they're being tickled. My big lazy male cat Dude doesn't groom himself well and got some matted fur on his butt that we had to shave off. I got the electric clippers out and cut off the mats while my husband held him. Midway through the butt-cutting operation we both were cracking up laughing because Dude started the “licking the chops” thing. I guess electric clippers applied to a cat's ass causes a tickling sensation? *LOL*
