The 33 Other Most Important Animals Of 2011
Some of my coworkers have a tendency to forget that the animal kingdom consists of more than just dogs and cats. Keeping that in mind, here are the 33 most important non-canine and non-feline creatures from 2011, in no particular order.
2. The Awkward Camel
Debate raged as to whether or not there was something physically wrong with this camel, but in the end it was determined that the camel simply derps hardcore.
3. The Antelope That Hates Bikers
This video combines two of the best things about the internet: animals and schadenfreude.
5. The Playful Otter
First of all, otters are amazingly adorable. Second, kids can be pretty cute when they’re not screaming. Combine the two, and boom! Instant cuteness.
6. The Kleptomaniac Penguin
It must suck to be a penguin. You spend all day waddling around picking up just the right rocks for your nest, only to have some jerk steal them behind your back.
7. The Ginger Seal
This poor adorable baby seal was abandoned by its family because of its unusual coloring and lack of soul. Fortunately, a wildlife rescue organization took the little guy in.
8. The Justin Bieber Sloths
Not to insult sloths, but it turns out they have an uncanny likeness to the Biebs.
9. The Dancing Baby Pygmy Goat
C’mon. Just look at it.
10. The Gamer Bearded Dragon
Some people thought it was mean to tease this lizard with Ant Crusher game, but they probably just resent the fact that it got a higher score than them.
12. The Red Pandas Who Wouldn’t Stop Kissing
These guys really need to get a room.
13. The Strawberry-Sized Baby Turtles
This baby side-necked turtle lives with its sibling on a strawberry farm in Southeast Queensland, Australia, which is obviously the best possible place for baby turtles to live.
14. This Slow Loris
It has a tiny umbrella. A TINY UMBRELLA!
15. The Screaming Fennec Fox
This is apparently how fennec foxes say “good morning”.
16. The Prairie Dog Who Loves Feist
And cookies. He also loves cookies.
17. The Epic Frog
From which we learned that the life of a frog is super intense.
18. The Bronx Zoo Cobra
This Egyptian cobra escaped from the Bronx Zoo in March, and spent a few days hanging out in NYC. His Twitter feed, which is still active, is hilarious.
20. The Baby Panda On A Rocking Horse
I’m pretty sure this one speaks for itself.
21. The Ducklings Who Love Yo-Yo’s
It doesn’t get much cuter than synchronized baby ducks.
23. The Exhausted Baby Sea Lion
We’ve all felt this way.
24. Bunnies Leaping Over Hurdles
The European Rabbit Hopping Championship is a thing that exists, and it is amazing.
25. The World’s Luckiest Squirrel
Over 8,000,000 people have watched this squirrel get passed over by a Lamborghini going over 100 MPH.
26. The Breakdancing Gorilla
He’s got mad moves.
27. The Snake That Went For A Car Ride
This water moccasin slithered his way across the front of the car at 65 miles per hour before dropping off on the side of the road.
28. The Alpaca Stormtroopers
These guys are obviously a part of a rebel undercover program launched on Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru’s farm.
29. The Cows Who Like Jazz
Somehow, two horn players playing “The Saints Go Marching In” were able to attract the completely riveted attention of a herd of cows.
30. The Airlifted Black Rhino
This guy was airlifted as part of a relocation plan for black rhinos, which were officially declared extinct in the wild in November.
32. The Tweeting Pigeon
Look, I’m sorry about that headline, but I couldn’t help it. @feral_pigeon is the best bird on Twitter.
33. The Playful Baby Elephant
It doesn’t matter what species you are: kids can be annoying when all you want is to take a nap.
