It's been announced that the city of Hull has beat out Dundee, Leicester and Swansea to become the 2017 City of Culture.
The current City of Culture is Derry-Londonderry, and every four years the government chooses a new city to be the City of Culture to help tourism and economy. The title was created by ministers to try and replicate the success of Liverpool as the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
Here is Hull's compelling "This City Belongs To Everyone" video:
Hullensians are obviously very excited.
Others just had one question about Hull being named the 2017 City of Culture: REALLY?
REALLY?!
HASHTAG REALLY
A person who has been to Hull one time also had something to say:
TV producer Phil Redmond, who chaired the advisory panel that helped choose the winner, said of their choice that "ultimately it was the unanimous verdict of the panel that Hull put forward the most compelling case based on its theme as 'a city coming out of the shadows'."
