Movie Buzz Starring Zach Galifianakis in the strangest trailer of the year. I have no idea what this movie is really about, but it’s worth noting for two reasons. 1) Zach Galifianakis. 2) It outdoes those bizarre homemade Mike Gravel ads in terms of surreality.
Movie Buzz Exceptionally beautiful Irish actor is soon to become a household name as buzz builds for The Dark Knight. His previous roles in 28 Days Later and Breakfast in Pluto won him acclaim, but not heartthrob status. Yay, I have a new desktop centerfold! He is my new Zac Efron.
Movie Buzz Troma team churns out a movie that’s being called a “satirical sexploitation zombie chicken gross-out musical extravaganza.” Please watch the trailer. Bizarre sex acts and explosive diarrhea make this movie a must-see, but the best part is, you can justify all the mindless schlock because it is actually socio-political commentary on the fast food industry.
Movie Buzz The Hillary Downfall video is but the latest in a long series of Hitler videos that rely on subtitles for the jokes. Der Untergang, a German movie about the last days of Hitler, came out in 2004. In August 2006, YouTube user DReaperF4 posted a Spanish-language satire using the movie’s pivotal scene, wherein Hitler finally realizes the war is lost, with subtitles about the release of a new flight simulator game. An English version followed, and then imitators with jokes about Hitler’s car being stolen, Hitler being banned from XBox Live, Hitler being angry about the Patriot’s Super Bowl loss — and now, Hitler as Hillary, angry about the superdelegates.
Movie Buzz Someone’s compiled a video of the best moments from this biopic, starring Willa Ford. In the grand tradition of Oscar-worthy biopics like Ray and Walk the Line, this is pretty much the most anticipated movie of the year.
Movie Buzz The animated new Star Wars movie comes out August 15th, but the poster and trailer have been released this week. The 3D animation looks kind of blocky, but at least we won’t have to put up with any bad acting.
Movie Buzz Nick Broomfield’s movie about one corner of the Iraq War finally comes to the U.S. The Haditha killings were one of the worst civilian casualty incidents of the war — 24 men, women and children were killed by a group of Marines after a roadside bombing, though all charges against the soldiers involved were dropped after an investigation. The movie looks at what happened from several different angles.
Movie Buzz Milk, a biopic about slain San Francisco supervisor Harvey Milk, who was California’s first openly gay elected official is in the works and will be released 26 November 2008. Considered a Martyr of the gay community, Supervisor Milk will be played by Sean Penn and the film will be directed by Gus Van Sant. Milk’s assassin Dan White will be played by Josh Brolin (not Matt Damon as was rumored) who will get to hone his acting chops by reenacting the famous “Twinkie Defense”.
Movie Buzz With Speed Racer about to debut, the Wachowski-hatin’ starts anew. It’s been one long downward slide for the Wachowski brothers since the first Matrix, and the vultures are gathering, hoping for something to pick at after Speed Racer finally comes out. Their reclusiveness hasn’t helped matters much.
Movie Buzz Now playing at film festivals worldwide, writer/actress/producer/crazy lady Isabella Rossellini’s bizarre, entertaining series of short films for the Sundance Channel focuses on the sex life of insects. Thanks to Green Porno, you no longer have to feel guilty about imagining what you could do with eight legs and six eyes.
Movie Buzz Tony Stark’s Girl Friday is getting love as a superhero assistant/sex symbol. Gwyneth Paltrow may have undone the badness of Sliding Doors and Shallow Hal with her turn in Iron Man.
Movie Buzz The new, Heath Ledger-inspired version of the Joker doll has been selling out in New York. Collectors are making it hard for the kiddies to get a hold of one of these — apparently to drive up the prices of the dolls online.
Movie Buzz An imaginary soft drink from the film Idiocracy becomes a real product. It premiered at ROFLcon last week. It is very, very likely that many more people will buy this energy drink than see the movie. Which pretty much illustrates the point of the movie (that Americans are de-evolving).
Movie Buzz Expedia has created tours inspired by the Indiana Jones movies. Destinations include India, Egypt, Italy, China, Jordan, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, and the Southwestern United States. There is no mention in the PR materials of whether travelers need supply their own young Asian boy to act as Short Round.
Movie Buzz A documentary about the adventure that ensues once a man googles himself is available for free on YouTube for a limited time. Between watching animals-falling-asleep videos and full-fledged movies, it’s hard to budget all that precious time you waste on YouTube.
Movie Buzz The prolific reviewer tackles a new medium. The casual tone of the blog, the snippets of thought and asides will no doubt go over big with Ebert fans. And haters will get all internet-angry in the comments section.
Movie Buzz David O. Russell, famous for his profanity-laced, set-destroying tirade against Lily Tomlin and his fistfight with George Clooney, is at it again. The volatile director’s heavy-handed tactics prompted James Caan to storm off the set of his latest film, the political comedy Nailed, after a dispute over a cookie, and caused star Jake Gyllenhaal to have a temper tantrum of his own.
Movie Buzz Man dies from a shark attack, Americans respond by renting Jaws! What is the appropriate way to respond to the tragic death of a veterinarian and family man who is killed by a great white shark while swimming off the coast of California? Apparently a giant media circus and a renewed desire to watch the movie Jaws!
Movie Buzz Jason Segel’s genitals make a masterful debut in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which is being touted as representing a new comfort with onscreen male nudity. If only there were a flaccid penis or two in Norbit, we might have actually enjoyed ourselves!
Movie Buzz Funny Or Die has picked the movie at random and called together an Internet campaign to turn the 1993 flop into a cult favorite. Now we know what Buzzfeed would have looked like in 1993! And who said irony was dead?
