DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHERE IN CANADA THIS TAKES PLACE? Take a look on a map and see. You know what, THIS IS A MAJOR INCOME BOOST THAT FAMILIES DEPEND ON AS WELL AS IT HAS AN IMPORTANT CULTURAL ASPECT TO IT.
The seals are used for traditional clothing and items, the meat is used for meals and the bones are used for traditional decorative items that people sell to tourist or use as their own.
For the small fishing communities with little job opportunities this provides for a great income boost. You are completely ignorant to the situation, perhaps you should look into the real situation that is: YOU ARE TRYING TO RUIN PEOPLES LIVELY HOOD. This is an industry that provide people who live in the northern communities an income boost. Also, its not baby seals that get killed. Get your facts straight.
Please try to educate yourselves before ruining the human aspect of this. The sickening thing here is that people get all hung up on the “cute fluffy baby” while forgetting how much of a crucial impact this is to the people who rely on it. Besides, I don’t think people outside of Canada should have a say in this because it does not directly affect them. You should not meddle in things unless it has an affect on you nor should you if you are not properly educated in the matter. People like you make me sad. So basically you are saying that the lives of some animals are more important than those of the humans who depend on this as a means of income?
Get real, human rights should trump animal rights. Do you like your fish? Well, hate to break it to you but if we don’t keep seal populations in check, your fish will be scarce.
