This piece is a whimsical take on the word "Go," - a word that has now been fused with the traditional Campbell's soup logo that adorns the playful packaging for its newest product. Inspired by the expanding need for our meals to keep up with our busy lifestyles, this image turns the idea on its head. Consider the irony of food so well designed for fast-paced, convenient consumption, that it actually beats us in the footrace of our own schedules.

Title of the piece is "Warmth." Soup, to me, fills you with light and warmth-especially during the winter months. Here we have a young girl, snuggled up in her warm furs and warm golden hair. The entire piece resonates warmth and light.

Artist statement:

I typically work in oil on canvas in my studio in Brooklyn but for this project I chose to experiment with Guache on watercolor paper working on the kitchen table going back and forth between the bowl and the bowl and the brush until both my stomach and my painting were full. No starving artists on this project.

Our collaborative work aims to create a parody of conventional still life images. We include things we detest and things we secretly love. It is a relatively new project for us, so the work is full of questions, gestures, angst, humor, and playful formalism.

The name of the piece is "Sliver." The piece was based on Andy Warhol's methodology surrounding identity and creating a commodity out of celebrity. It is about a distorted image of oneself and finding connection through our imperfections and dissimilarities as humans. It is about gesture and repetition as a conduit for expressing an inner state or emotion.

Since Andy Warhol immortalized its brand in the revolutionary pop art wave in the nineteen-sixties, Campbell's has long been associated with the art world. In its mission to renew enthusiasm in younger generations, Campbell's must be careful not to distance itself too far from the iconic brand that has long given it fame. In this piece I have attempted to combine the elements of the traditional Campbell's Soup brand with an infusion of influences from the Skate-punk, Graffiti/Street Art, and Hipster movements. The goal is to mix old with new and provide a blueprint for marketing that will appeal to today's youth.

I looked at the bright colors of the packages and drew inspiration from the vibrant hues. The soup color, texture and form were vital to the process and informed the piece. Each soup presented a unique opportunity to study these qualities.

This piece (titled: "GO!") is inspired and dictated by the graphic design of the packaging for the new Campbell's Go product. It emulates the excitement and "on the go" attitude of the new Campbell's Soup product. The colors used reflect the different colors used for the branding of the new Campbell's Product. My goal was to capture the expression of a lifestyle that aligns with the intention of Campbell's Go soup. Go go go!!!

Inspired by the Coconut Curry with Chicken and Shittake Mushroom Soup, this piece explores how seemingly banal objects can become both enticing and exotic when brought together.

Artist statement:

The painting I did for this event I named "Soup City". My thoughts were to incorporate the colors and shapes of a Campbell's soup can as an underlining structure to my painting. Painting live at the event, I wasn't sure exactly what the piece was going to turn into but what it became was a "soup inspired" city undergoing an alien invasion.

The work I made the event is part of a series called "Threads." It has to do with history and the image and color throughout my history making art. Some of the references reflect my past connections with artists who are my influences. Some of them I have had a personal connection with and some I respect from afar. I choose to make these works on found surfaces since they already have a history. Many of the colors I choose are connected to food or are known to make the viewer think of food. All of these concepts are part of the threads I reflect with the work.
